Beginning July 14, 2025, the TSA requires all public charter operators, including Aero, to implement a light security screening for all guests before boarding.
Each guest will be screened with a walk-through or handheld metal detector, and cabin baggage will be hand-inspected.
Why are these new light screening procedures being implemented?
This change is part of an industry-wide TSA requirement for all public charter operators. The additional steps strengthen security and help ensure every guest’s peace of mind while traveling.
What does the new screening process include?
-
Metal detector screening: Every guest will be lightly screened using either a walk-through or handheld metal detector. Any alarms must be resolved through additional screening, which may include a re-screen or a physical pat down.
-
Hand inspection of cabin baggage: Cabin baggage will be inspected for any items prohibited by TSA, including but not limited to:
-
Liquids: Containers must be 3.4 oz (100 ml) or less, placed in a clear, zip-top bag. Larger liquids must be packed in checked luggage.
-
Sharp objects: Items with blades longer than 4 inches, or any item that could be used as a weapon, are not allowed in cabin baggage.
For a complete list, please visit the TSA’s “What Can I Bring?” page.

- After successful screening, you will enter a secure area prior to boarding the jet. Boarding will proceed as usual.
Will this affect my check-in and boarding time?
Aero will ensure the new screening process is carried out quickly and seamlessly. Check-in will continue to close 20 minutes prior to departure, but we recommend arriving a few extra minutes early to allow for screening. You’re always welcome to arrive early to enjoy our lounge amenities.
What items are not allowed in my cabin baggage?
Key points to remember:
- Liquids over 3.4 oz (100 ml) must be packed in checked luggage.
- Sharp objects (blades over 4 inches) or any item that could be used as a weapon are not permitted in cabin baggage.
We encourage you to review the full list on the TSA’s “What Can I Bring?” page.
What if I accidentally bring a prohibited item?
If you have a prohibited item at screening:
- You may leave the item behind at the departure location (please check with our team for available options).
- If time and circumstances allow, you may store it in checked luggage.
Do I need any special ID for my flight? What constitutes a REAL ID?
Yes. Guests aged 18 and older must present a REAL ID compliant driver’s license or another TSA-accepted form of identification. More details are available on the TSA Identification webpage.
What happens if I don’t have a REAL ID?
The TSA accepts other forms of valid identification, such as a U.S. passport. For a complete list, please refer to the TSA’s Identification guidelines.
